Supporting movement

A suspension system allows the wheels to move relative to the vehicle body while working with tyres, springs and dampers to manage road inputs. The complete system combines several components with different roles.

Control arms and ball joints

Control arms connect the wheel assembly to the vehicle structure and guide suspension travel. Ball joints provide articulation where the suspension arrangement requires it. Bushes permit controlled movement at mounting points.

The role of stabilizer links

The stabilizer link connects the anti-roll bar to the suspension. As part of the system, it contributes to how body roll is managed during cornering. Layouts and connection points vary between vehicles.

Look at the complete assembly

A noise or change in handling may have more than one cause. Inspection should consider the full system rather than assuming one component is responsible. Diagnosis and installation should be carried out by a qualified professional.
