A system of connected parts
In a rack-and-pinion steering system, movement at the steering wheel is transmitted through the steering column to the steering gear. The rack converts this input into lateral movement, which is passed through the steering linkage to turn the wheels.
Rack ends and tie rod ends
The rack end forms the inner connection in the linkage. The tie rod end connects the outer linkage to the wheel assembly. Their joints allow the necessary movement as steering angle and suspension position change.
Where hydraulic assistance fits in
Vehicles with hydraulic power steering use a pump to provide pressure for steering assistance. Other vehicles may use electric assistance or a different arrangement. The system type must be identified before choosing replacement components.
Every application is specific
Similar-looking parts are not necessarily interchangeable. Steering type, mounting points, threads and vehicle variants can differ. Correct identification and professional installation are essential.
